  1. I had my first son at SGH with Dr Elie Anastasiades. He was a wonderful doctor. The midwives at Rum run great antenatal and Lamze classes which I attended and they have a natural childbirth philosophy meaning as little intervention as possible. I came in with early labour and I felt very safe there. When I finally had my son I was only a bit annoyed with a young midwife who had never been through labour pains telLing me "push don't scream". Otherwise my huge private room, the nurses, the care they took of my precious boy was a dream and it was a good experience in all. I didnt want to leave! I was covered by premier insuso I'm not sure of th costs. I highly recommend.

  2. I can very highly recommend this hospital where I just gave birth to my first child!
It starts with the excellent midwives (if you are interested in a more natural child birth, call the hospital and ask for Jessie - she is a midwife and runs prenatal classes drawing on the Lamaze philosophy and she can also accompany you through the whole birth). They have these exercise balls, and they understand if you want to move around during labor and will support you.
My doctor Dr. Mary Chammas was also great and very supportive of my wishes. We discussed all sorts of things before (the fact that i didn't want an epidural, no episiotomy unless absolutely necessary) so I felt safe and well prepared.
The care afterwards is wonderful too, all the staff was very friendly and professional, they support the philosophy that the baby should not be given a bottle and support you in breast feeding right from birth. The baby and even my husband could be with me all the time (my husband also stayed over night).
The only two points that could be improved is the baby care education, which was rather short on the day of discharge and the periods that the baby was away from me for tests and its bath were quite long(1.5 hours at times).
Oh, and don't go to SGH if you are a gourmet - the food is not worth mentioning!
But apart from that, it was a great experience and I would go there again - not only for a delivery, for any sort of medical issue.
