Great ideea,I delivered in Geaitewe hospitall 4 month ago.I give 10 /10 to all staff but I had bad experience with poponier ladys cose i srtictly said i am only breastfeeding but I cought them twice giving my little baby formula milk. just say is not right not to respect what a mother says specially that colostrum is most important for a new born.

yr initiative is great but try to help staff in hospitals to incurage breast feeding more.
    thank you.

  3. Hi, I delivered in Levant Hospital in 2010.
Overall, it was a good experience, the nurses were nice and the rooms clean. The problem was with feeding and learning how to bathe the baby. I mean, I didn't have any prior experience what so ever with breastfeeding, bathing or even changing the baby. So the second day, they bring me the baby after taking his bath and the nurse from the nursery hands me the baby and says smiling oh he might not breastfeed now coz I already gave him some milk.... Also with teaching us how to bathe, I heard from my friends who delivered at other hospitals that usually they call them and show them how bathing is done etc. So I waited and waited, and the same day I was being discharged I called them in the morning and told them that I need to be there when they bathe him coz I need to learn. And she said yes, we will call you. And they did, but the process was done very fast that thank god I had my aunt who helped me at home or else I would've struggled! The problem is that they assume that we know everything just as they do. Well no we don't!

  4. I gave birth to my first daughter in Hopital St. Charles in Baabda in February 2009. I had such a positive experience that I went back there last August to give birth to my second daughter. Everyone I know who has had a baby in this hospital has had a good experience.

Although the hospital itself is a little old-fashioned, it is immaculately clean, and the care is superb. The rooms are spacious and more modern than the delivery rooms.

I had the same issue with the nurses bottle feeding both of my daughters when they were in the nursery. I've learned that that's an unavoidable part of giving birth in a Lebanese hospital. I did not have any problems with my milk supply even though both girls were given bottles in the hospital.

  5. I just wanted to add to my comment above about Hopital St. Charles in Baabda. I chose not to have an epidural or any strong medication, and that was acceptable in the hospital. I did not get any pressure from my doctor or the nurses to follow standard procedure or do what's considered "normal." I have heard that there are some doctors/hospitals in Lebanon that will not deliver without an epidural, but I'm proof that it's possible! I think it's well worth finding a hospital that will support your choices if you want to avoid excessive medication.

  6. Hello
I gave birth in October 2010 at the Middle east Institute of Health in Bsalim. My baby came earlier than expected. He was born at 7months and a half. My experience there was wonderful. The staff are friendly from the man who takes acre of the paperwork to the nurses, midwives and anesthesiologist. My baby was put in the neonatolgy unit for 5 days, and I could go see him whenever I wanted, unless they were in the middle of a handover to the other shift. They showed me how to bathe him, gave me explanations on how to put him to sleep, when to feed him, how to dress him, etc. As a first time mom, I had many concerns and questions and tehy were really patient. They also encouraged me to breastfeed, and gave me a breast pump to help my milk come since my baby could not breastfeed. I really recommend this hospital to all pregannt women.

  7. Hello, I delivered my baby at Haddad Hospital in February 2013. The nurses were great and the service was good too. The only problem, as usual, was the bottle feeding. I specifically asked them not to give him formula but they rejected. Most of the hospitals in Lebanon give formula to newborns and never respect the wish of the mother. shame.

  8. Hello, I delivered at Bellevue Medical Center 1 year ago. The service was actually GREAT. They emphasise breastfeeding and were actually very helpful to assist during the night, which is quite different from Trad hospital where i delivered my first kid, although in terms of service, Trad was also very good. Check out their prenatal classes, didn't take them personnally but i heard they're v good. I recommend it.
